We settled into a nice routine in Isaan. Our schooldays were pretty much the same with a few night outings scheduled in.
We started every morning with breakfast and then moved onto teaching Englis
h. We rotated around to 3 different classrooms ranging from kindergarten to 9th grade. We really enjoyed singing and playing games with the kids. As the days passed by the students became more confident and started speaking more English. It's always a joy to arrive at school and hear the students yelling good morning.
After lunch with the
teachers it would be time for basketball. We taught four classes (2 hours) each afternoon and usually split the groups up between the basketball court and a covered pavilion. The Sun was really bright and made it hot for the teachers so we rotated between the Sun and the shade.
After school we hung out with the kids. Scott's ukelele was a big hit with the students
and adults. He learned some of the Thai national song.
The kids also enjoyed watching the pictures on Rusty's computer. They enjoyed seeing his students from other parts of the country. The kids also enjoyed showing some of their favorite past-times with us. These kids were quite talented at jumping rope (which was really rubber bands tied together). I've never seen anyone jump quite like this.
Once we were back at the house, we enjoyed sitting out in the gazebo which was furnished with benches and a hammock. It was great to sit outside and relax each evening.
