At times our house seems to have a revolving door. We often say goodbye to one guest just to turn around and say hello to the next one. With the departure of Alex this summer came the arrival of Carmen. Carmen is a repeat helper, and the kids were excited to see her again! Sii and Gam tried to write a welcome address on the whiteboard for her arrival, but she got to the house from the airport in record time. We put her right to work in our evening class, but hopefully it wasn't anything too stressful.
Having new people in class gives us the opportunity for the kids to practice asking questions. Sometimes my students are great at answering questions, but they don't usually take the initiative to ask questions.
Carmen had just a few days in the city to get back into teaching and to get over jet lag. You can tell from the pictures why her Thai nickname is Sweet. :)
One highlight from this summer was playing soccer with the kids after the evening class. Adam bought a soccer ball, and the kids enjoyed hanging out after class to play. Of course I enjoy the summer months when it stays light enough for playing even if it lasts only for about thirty minutes.
