Each people group wore their traditional costumes, brought food from their country/region, and was responsible for some type of demonstration of their culture. We were struggling with what to do for our people group, but God worked it all out in the end.
We decided we would do Southern things for our representation. The USA just seemed too broad--so we broke it down to what we know best. We took a big pot of barbecued pork, cole slaw, sweet tea, and banana pudding for dessert. 
Hope was our Southern belle for the evening. The little girls thought she looked just like Belle on Beauty and the Beast. :)
Rusty and I found some cowboy hats and bandannas for the occasion. Not too bad for living halfway around the world! We sang a version of "Where the Soul of Man Never Dies" for our presentation. The people didn't understand it, but I think they enjoyed the bluegrass/country feel.
We really enjoyed the presentations. This particular Karen group had the largest number of people present. They did a great job singing!We all enjoyed getting to eat the food, see the cultural dress, and listen to the different languages in the presentations. It was a great night of fun, food, fellowship, and giving thanks to God!
Just after we returned from our mini-vacation last month, we celebrated Thanksgiving with Antioch Church here in the city. We decided to do it a little early to give more time for Christmas preparations. I'm sure Pawn and Hope would like for us to do that at our house too--then we would already have the Christmas tree up. :)
