Thai BBQ

We have eaten Thai BBQ many times, but tonight was Hope's first time. We all went over to Brent and Tawm's to celebrate her birthday which was this past Tuesday. It's one of our favorite things to do as long as it isn't hot season. Here's what we do:First Rusty and Brent work on building the fires while we wait for everyone to arrive. This process started about 30 minutes before everyone arrived. I think next time the time will be shorter. After we get the fires going, everyone takes turns holding Owen. He seemed a little tired tonight. Of course the party got started around his bedtime!
Some people prepared side dishes while others went to the store for ice. If you get to the house around 6:30, you might start grilling at 8:30. It's ok though because you're in Thailand. After living in Thailand for 3 years, this gold personality is finally starting to grasp that concept.

Once everyone makes it back from the store, it's finally time to start grilling. It doesn't take long to cook the meat as the pieces are very thin. This is Hope's first experience with all of this, but Pawn took good card of her.
You put fat on the very top of the grill for some grease. Then you grill the meat on the dome part. There is a trough (moat) that runs around it, and that's where you pour broth and add vegetables to make a really good soup. The juices run off of the meat and add even more flavoring to the soup. Yummy!

After all of this is done you clean up and go home. It's fun to sit around and chat with everyone while all of this is happening. I think Hope gave it two thumbs up and would be willing to do it again.
