Karen Youth Leadership Camp

Rusty was invited by a friend of a Bible student to go and speak at a Karen (one of the hill tribe groups of Thailand) youth leadership conference. Rusty was able to preach two times and share from God's Word about salvation. You can't really "break through" without first having Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Rusty really had a good time, and everyone said the message was clear and that they enjoyed it. Although those things are nice to hear, it's much more important that people begin to apply God's Word to their own lives. Please pray that seeds will continue to be planted and watered.


This was part of the road leading into the village. Sometimes in the city we forget how much we have to be thankful for with having a four wheel drive truck. Rusty rubbed the bumper going through this one.

He had to carry some of the kids out of the village to the main road. These girls thought Rusty was handsome...I must say I agree! :)
The meetings were held under this pavilion. They had a praise band to lead worship each night before the sharing of God's Word.

Rusty wanted to bring me one of these guys as a new pet, but the people said it would eat everything in my yard. Plus it might make Texas jealous, but they sure are cute when they're little!

The kids were in teams and had to travel through several team building exercises. They had a memory verse that they had to memorize at each station also. I think their games are pretty creative; they really like to have fun and pick on each other! Who doesn't?

This game involved working together to plug the holes in a pvc pipe to be able to fill it up with water. Sometimes a ping-pong ball is placed inside that you have to make go over the top of the pipe. Rusty provided the water bottles for this team which seemed to help a lot once they cut the tops off of them.

This game involved a greased pole with the Bible memory verses stashed on top. At first one person had to try to climb the bamboo pole. Then the teams were let loose to try to build a pyramid or anything they could do to get to the top. I really think they would like a greased pig contest. :)
