A Wedding

After a few days of nothing really happening the first full week of my school break, this weekend is turning out to be busy. Rusty has a teaching trip to a friend's village next week, and then the next week will be seminary in the city. The next week school starts back for me. So we've had to spend some time at home getting caught up on things here and preparing for the work ahead.

Yesterday we went to do some errands. I had to take my hand mixer by service to see if they can fix it. I'll need it for all of the holiday baking I have planned. Then we went to the post office and to Office Depot to order our new chairs for the classroom or wherever else we may need them. We ordered the durable plastic chairs to match the new tables we bought. We are so excited about them...just hope they come in quicker than the tables did!

Then we went to the mall to eat lunch. We used to eat at a restaurant called BK Grill, but it changed to Jeffer's. It must still be the same though because it has the same menu items, and our waitress was wearing the grill shirt. I ended up with this...
It was really good, but the onions were extremely strong! I think they were sliced way too thick. After that we went home to have the dinner and a movie night that I already posted about earlier.

Today we went to a wedding of one of my school classmates. I found out today she is Lahu, and she is from Burma. The ceremony was done in Burmese, and it's quite different. The bride and groom did not say any type of vows. They came in and sat down. Then there was some singing, and a preacher stood up to talk about marriage. A friend translated part of it and said he was talking about Christians marrying Christians. Then the bride and groom stood up, and the groom removed the bride's veil. They don't do a kiss like we do in America, but the groom did kiss the bride on the forehead. The preacher introduced them, and someone thanked us for coming to the wedding. Then as the couple left we all threw rose petals on them and followed them out for the reception.

And last but not least the happy couple...
Maybe I'll get a copy of all of us farangs with the couple sometime soon. I'm sure it's going to be an interesting picture.
