Going to the Chiang Mai gift fair is one of our favorite annual events. It's held around the time of the King's birthday and is a market with lots of local food and great gift items. We like to go there to shop the Christmas items. They usually have handmade Christmas cards, boxes, and bags. There's one stand that even creates Christian Christmas cards. After a little bit of shopping, we found the food stalls for a light lunch.
All of us westerners went with Pad Thai for lunch with shrimp. Then we bought some iced coffees to go with it.
We were wondering what Asiatic pennywort is from this drink stand. Apparently it's used medicinally in many cultures, but here it's made into drinks or eaten raw in salads.
When we started ordering food, Rusty went to search for a table for us. The first table he found was near this fish drying in the Sun. This produced a strong odor and lots of flies. I was thankful we found another table away from this area and enjoyed our lunch in the shade. Sometimes the fish smell is a little too strong for me.
