I left out an important step in our trip to Isaan--an overnight in Bangkok. We flew out of Chiang Mai very early so that we could spend the day in Bangkok before flying early the next morning for Isaan.
I think Carmen really enjoyed being in the big city. I enjoy it for a time, but I certainly wouldn't want to live there in the heat. But I must say that Bangkok would probably be pretty convenient once I learned the transportation systems. We caught the airport link from the international airport (just recently opened) for about half the price per two people of a cab fare. That's a good deal! Of course you have to know what you're doing...that's why we have Mr. Korn.

The first and only Krispy Kreme opened up in Bangkok a year or so ago, and we set off to find it. There's an area in Bangkok with about half a dozen (if not more) malls in the same area. You can just walk from one mall to the next. I'm not sure how many malls we went through trying to find the right one, but we finally found the line for the doughnuts. The line was very long for the specialty doughnuts, but it didn't take long for us to get our regular glazed one. By the way, I don't think this branch offers the red light in the window. :( The lady looked at me funny when I asked for a hat. I wasn't interested in keeping it after I saw it didn't have it written in Thai. What's the point? A sharpie marking that I got it in Thailand just wouldn't be the same.

If you've ever seen Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn this reminded me of the mouth of truth scene. :)

Every year in Bangkok we try to add new transportation modes to our list of been there done that's. This year it was a canal taxi. I'm not sure I would like for people to be going through a canal this close to the back of my house, but it's a place to live.

We got bags! And I think Rusty wanted to snap a picture of all of the full Krispy Kreme boxes in the background. Looks like we ordered a lot!

This is a totally random shot. I think we could put this on our porch in the States. It might fit in good in Arkansas.
