On the way to the city, we like to stop at the national park that has a log of huge rock formations. This year was quite nice as there had been quite a bit of rain. Last year when we visited the rains came late so there weren't any streams or waterfalls.

On Top of the World
During the two weeks we're in Isaan, we take a break in the city. We look forward to having a cool bedroom, a bed, and a hot shower. The city is not that big, but it does have some comforts that we appreciate.

We have fun climbing on the rocks and taking pictures. We really have to use our thinking skills to figure out how to climb up some of them.
Whoops! Looks like Rusty was playing around too much.
No problem. He's going to try to put the rocks back like he found them.
We upgraded our hotel rooms this year. Last year we stayed in the $12.00 a night room, and this year we stayed in the $17.00 per night. It was a big improvement, and I would definitely stay there again. After a long day of sight-seeing and shopping at the markets, we bought some food at the night market before we got rained out and ate back at the hotel using Carmen's new picnic mat.
I think this picture is actually from a different day, but it's what we did on Sunday the 24th as well. July is national ice cream month, and the 24th is THE day! So we celebrated it with blizzards in a cone from Dairy Queen. After all, Carmen has to have her ice cream fix. :)
