OTOP

There is a project in Thailand called the One Tambon One Product initiative. This program was started in 2001, and it aims to improve incomes in village communities and to help alleviate rural poverty. When Rusty went to the Isaan region of Thailand he watched them making cotton for this project. OTOP products use the resources that are available locally, are handmade, and use Thai wisdom and skill to produce the products. These skills have been handed down generation to generation. The Isaan region is known for silk and cotton and also triangular pillows, reed mats, and baskets.
